Plot Summary
A successful syndicated cartoonist (who acts out the adventures he later infuses into his cartoon-strip character, "Bash Brannigan, Secret Agent") is dedicated to living the bachelor life, complete with a devoted English butler-valet-confidante...until he awakens one morning after a wild stag party, only to discover that he married the sexy, sensual Italian beauty who popped out of the cake and barely speaks English. What's more...she doesn't believe in divorce. Now, how does the ultimate bachelor get rid of her? With the perfect murder scheme, of course!

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Believable or not, this stuff is funny just so long as one can go with the sour joke- -and that depends upon one's tolerance of trivia and also, perhaps, upon whether one is a fellow or a girl.
Fresh: A nimble comedy that doesn't make much sense because it makes nonsense, most of it screechingly funny and played by knockabouts who know that the slapstick was invented for keeping an idea aloft, not for beating it into the ground.
Rotten: Finesse and desire aren't enough to overcome the fact that Axelrod's script doesn't make the most of its potentially antic situations.

Jack Lemmon Classic
Jack Lemmon is one of the greatest comedic talents in cinema history. His delivery on everything is unique and hilarious, and in this film, he proves his genius once again as a bachelor who doesn't want a wife - even after he wakes up with one! With the gorgeous Virna Lisi as his sweet, innocent Italian bride, this film never stops with the laughs. A must-see comedy classic!
How to Murder Your Wife
One of the best, If not THE best of the sex comedies of the 60's. Great cast, all the way from Jack Lemmon to Eddie Mayhoff as his hen pecked lawyer. Even the musical score is very good. I can remember my Dad letting me stay up late to watch this with him on the late late movie, just because it was that good.
An Underrated Classic
I first saw this film on TMC a long time ago and fell in love, it's a shame it rarely gets airplay. A great comedy with a good cast and a well-rounded plot to keep it all together.
