Fresh: It's clear that [director Dean DeBlois] took inspiration from the first Star Wars trilogy - not a bad model for breathing new life, and yes, a bit of fire, into one of Hollywood's more nuanced animated franchises.
Fresh: The writer and director Dean DeBlois takes the comedy to a deeper, more satisfying place than he did in the original franchise-launching animated film.
Fresh: Not only does this second movie match the charm, wit, animation skill and intelligent storytelling of the original, I think it even exceeds it.
Fresh: Although there are times when bits of the movie feel extraneous, the production as a whole comes across more like an organic extension of the original tale than something tacked on purely to score at the box office.

How to Train Your Dragon
This is hands down the best animated film i have ever seen. The animation and textures are so beautiful, and the movie is hilarious and captivating. GO SEE IT!
Phenomenal; Dreamworks does it again
The movie was great. It showed actual, tangible emotion from the characters and stayed mostly true to the original. It actually felt like a sequel; a natural part of the series instead of being some over-bloated cash-grab playing on the preceding title's fame. The only thing that I could consider bad about it is the fact that I was able to predict everything about the movie, save a few exceptions. This is a rather moot point, though, considering I was able to do the same with the first one. With that being said, I didn't once feel bored watching it. Overall, great character development adding new characters and onto the characters of the first one, fantastic music (again, similar pieces to the first one, providing more of a commonality to it, with some originals as well), nice mix of emotions, and well put together. Now, the only reason I perpetually mention the first one is because I found that movie to be nearly flawless, and I am pleased to say that this one proudly stands next to it as my favorite movie series to date.

This movie is delightful! I would rematch it again and again. Loved it more than Frozen.
