Plot Summary
Considered by many as the greatest adaptation of the Victor Hugo classic novel about the deformed bell ringer of Notre Dame who rescues a beautiful gypsy woman from his evil guardian and falls in love with her. A stunning achievement starring Oscar-winner Charles Laughton ("Spartacus," "Mutiny on the Bounty") as the heroic hunchback, Quasimodo. Featuring the screen debut of Academy Award-winner Edmond O'Brien ("D.O.A.," "The Wild Bunch") and the U.S. debut of the beautiful Maureen O'Hara ("How Green Was My Valley," "Only the Lonely"). Also starring Oscar-winner Thomas Mitchell ("It's a Wonderful Life," "Stagecoach") and Cedrick Hardwicke ("The Ten Commandments"). Produced by Academy Award-recipient Pandro S. Berman ("Ivanhoe," "Top Hat," "Father of the Bride"). Nominated for its outstanding musical score.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: The latest and most uncertain of Disney's animated efforts, with its manic mood swings and cloying, none-too-cuddly hero.
Fresh: It's an emotionally rounded fairy tale that balances darkness and sentimentality, pathos and triumph, with uncanny grace.
Fresh: The result is a grand cartoon cathedral, teeming with gargoyles and treachery, hopeless love and tortured lust.
Fresh: This is pretty sophisticated for so-called kid stuff.

Beautiful
One of my all time favorites. Charles Laughton's performance of course is wonderful, but what really sticks out for me in this version of The Hunchback is Sir Cedric Hardwicke's acting. The best Frollo there could possibly be!
Best acting and my favorite person
Sir Cedric is so awesome when he's frollo he has that sort of evil face texture and his voice sounds really evil my favorite line is " you gipsie witch!!! "
One of my all time favorites
Without a doubt, one of my all time favorite classic Hollywood movies. Charles Laughton and Maureen O'Hara give stellar performances. A must see for any film afficianados.
