Plot Summary
This is an alternate theatrical version of the film with a controversial ending! Somehow immune to an unstoppable, incurable virus, military virologist Robert Neville (Smith) is now the last human survivor in New York City and maybe the world. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague lurk in the shadows... watching Neville's every move... waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind's last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find an antidote using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered... and quickly running out of time.

Fresh: I Am Legend is a blockbuster like no other, one that finds its grandness in modesty. It's a star vehicle with a star who knows his place in the universe.
Rotten: I wouldn't dream of giving away the ending, but it's not likely to satisfy either the action crowd or Matheson fans.
Fresh: So often, sci-fi is overproduced, but I Am Legend doesn't look like a CGI extravaganza. It looks like an edgy suspense movie shot on the fly in New York City after the fall. And because of that, it's all the more effective.
Fresh: I Am Legend is a grenade that goes off when least expected. It has more horror than heart, but it is never boring.

Awesome movie! This ending is how it should have been in theatres!
I didn't read the book so I didn't know the version in theatres was changed. Once I saw this I had to see the alternate ending. That's when I found out this is how the ending should have been according to the book. This ending makes the movie so much more dynamic!
$15 for a special feature?
Good to see iTunes incorporating content that appears on similarly-priced DVDs. But, seriously? Charging full price all over again for a special feature? Given that Apple has direct control over the file format (QuickTime) and the playback software (iTunes), they ought to be able to do a lot better than this. Otherwise, I don't see consumers who are used to getting all this stuff for free suddenly willing to pay for it multiple times.
