Plot Summary
Kate Reddy (Sarah Jessica Parker of SEX AND THE CITY FRANCHISE) is a finance executive who manages the ultimate balancing act between work and her adoring family. With the support of her best friend and fellow working mother Allison (Christina Hendricks of TV’s MAD MEN), Kate generally manages to keep her out-of-work husband Richard (Greg Kinnear of LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE), two young children, and colleagues happy. But life gets difficult when she lands a lucrative new account that requires frequent travel, at the same time Richard receives a job offer he can’t refuse. Further complicating matters are her ambitious, child-phobic junior associate Momo (Olivia Munn of TV’s PERFECT COUPLES) and new business partner Jack (Pierce Brosnan of MAMMA MIA!, JAMES BOND FRANCHISE), who becomes an unexpected source of temptation. Based on the novel by Allison Pearson.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Though it aims to be a sharply humorous look at the mommy wars, I Don't Know How She Does It has nothing remotely new or comical in its arsenal.
Rotten: In the chick-flick world, hell is other women, and here specifically it's the stay-at-home wife and mother.
Rotten: A meager one-joke comedy peopled by stereotypes.
Rotten: Why was a string of sitcom problems stretched to 91 minutes?

Tune out your inner critic and just ENJOY it for what it is!
I was surprised that this movie received all the criticism that it did. I remember being very excited for its release, and when I did see it, I left the theater thinking "That was a cute movie", just as most of us who enjoy romantic comedies tend to do. I guess it goes without saying that you should stay away if you hate Sarah Jessica Parker, predictability and/or happy endings, but for the rest of us, we should find plenty to like here. Many of the critics have blasted the script for being unrealistic, and since I don't have any kids at all, let alone status as a working parent, I can't really comment much on that. But I thought the movie did a nice job with the universal reality of being overwhelmed with various life responsibilities, being torn in a million different directions, and that delusional desire to do each job absolutely perfectly. There are particular scenes and characters that closely resemble daily life, with enough fluff and humor mixed in to make you feel like you're still getting a temporary escape from reality, which is exactly why most of us go to the movies in the first place. I also really like the way they handled the budding relationship between SJP and Pierce Brosnan's characters. It's very sensitive, yet prickly territory for screenwriters, and in the past, the media has chosen to portray it in a million different ways, but I respect how it was done here--respectable without losing its honesty or relatability. So, with all that said, I'd like to recommend that you ignore the negative reviews and give this one a try. It may or may not be the type of movie you want to watch more than once, but one thing's for sure--if you like romantic comedies, it's worth a rental.
Adorable!
Light, funny and entertaining. Don't let a few jaded critics influence you. I loved this movie. Not at all like the book, but loosely based upon it,
Great Movie for women who juggle life.
This a movie that shows how difficult it is to be an achieving mom and a good mom today. Shame on any critic for making it trite. It is was it is:
1. Real topics (loosely)
2. SJP is fun as ever. I love her in anything.
3. C'mon, we all know this is not going to be an Oscar contender without even seeing it.
It's a light movie with a heart and some laughs. If you are a woman who juggles, watch it for fun. I recommend ;)
Critics are just writers without a voice.
