Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: There are some clean, comic-book compositions and neat architectural interlacing, but the blinkered screenplay and indifferent performances fail to lift the eschatology and self-searching off the page. – Nicolas Rapold, New York Times, Jan 24, 2014

Rotten: Yvonne Strahovski makes for one of the least believable big screen scientists since Denise Richards' infamous turn as Dr. Christmas Jones. – Clark Collis, Entertainment Weekly, Jan 24, 2014

Rotten: Mainly notable for the fact that its titular character, as played by Aaron Eckhart, is really, really ripped. If People magazine had existed in the 19th century, he surely would have been feted as the sexiest undead man alive. – Frank Scheck, Hollywood Reporter, Jan 24, 2014

Rotten: It doesn't come close to working, but it's sweet that they tried. – Alan Scherstuhl, Village Voice, Jan 24, 2014

people are strange

I think that we have gotten rotten spoiled. Everything is so readily available and abundant that we are moved by anything.
This movie is great, for what it is. It is not a life changing experience and it does not pretend to be one. If you liked Van Helsing and The Mummy then this one is right up your alley. Good escapism for ninety minutes. Nice twist on the story. Yes it is cliche and yes it might get a bit cheesy in places but so what? The gargoyles are amazing. Make some pop corn and go at it... And if you are not having fun- you are doing it wrong!

Wow!!!

Wow. That was really bad.

Not that bad.

Generally dont review movies because i dont have much to say . Rottem tomato ratings have always been a joke to me but im pretty scared at all the negative user reviews. Honestly this is a good old fashion good vs evil movie thats meant for you to just sit back relax and enjoy the carnage. If you are expecting anything more maybe you should give this one a skip or wait until its a rental. If you love vampires/mythology/Bill Nighy try this movie out!!
