Plot Summary

Based on the best selling novel by Mickey Spillane, I, the Jury is a thrilling tale about a private detective (Armand Assante) who vows revenge when an old friend is found murdered. During the course of his search for the killer, he encounters a series of unexpected events and mysterious associates, including a suspicious female doctor who runs a New York sex clinic.

Not Assante's best work...

...but certainly not horrible. Has some typical early-80s cheese to it - leftovers from the 70's to be sure. But, it's Assante and also features a Paul Sorvino, whose presence is not listed in the actors contained here on iTunes. Not a bad film. Don't over-expect, and you just might enjoy it.

Absolutely the best Spillane film ever!

Armand Assante at his coolest, a exciting musical score by Bill Conti, screenplay by Larry Cohen, and Robert Solo making sure this film has the balls the novel intended. That's right, if you are looking for weak tea, this ain't your film. But if you really get the spirit of Spillane's novel you will love this adaptation. Humor, action, sexy Barbara Carrera, and Armand Assante, the man born to play this role. Don't miss this cool '80 fare!

BEST MOVIE EVER!

I saw this movie recently and was totally BLOWN AWAY! This movie keeps you on the edge of your seat and packs one serious punch!

I, The Jury has become my desert-island movie. if I were allowed one movie on a desert island … this would be it.

Armand Assante is especially INSPIRED as hardcore gumshoe Mike Hammer. He is charming, witty, funny, tough and sexy … and exudes a vibe of constant danger. Known for his award-winning character acting, Assante proves that he has what it takes to be a leading man in an action flick. (More over James Bond.)

Be warned: this movie is NOT for the feint of heart. If you are some soccer mom looking for a feel-good romantic comedy staring Reese Witherspoon, take your lame business elsewhere.

I, The Jury does not mess around. It contains very graphic violence and sexuality, which truly makes it a movie for our darker, more cynical and edgy times. It's surprising that I, The Jury came out in 1982 as it seems much more suited to 2014.

I only wish that iTunes would have found the original WIDESCREEN version of this film and offered it here. The Full-Screen version is decent but much of the amazing cinematography of the original aspect ratio is absent.

Everything about this movie is 5-stars. The script, the directing, the acting … particularly the hard-hitting film noir-inspired score by Rocky composer Bill Conti. This has got to be one of the best musical film scores in cinema history.

Lastly, if you are into Spillane, this movie is the single best adaptation of any of his awesome novels. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!
