Im Not Jesus Mommy
After reading some of the reviews there seems to be a lot of people
who love it or people who don't, nobody seems indifferent about this
movie so I was intrigued. Because the film obviously deals with
religion and involves what seems to be some sort of possessed child I
couldn't help myself.
This film is very different than what I was expecting. It started out
like a romantic movie about a woman who can't have babies, but who is
a fertility specialist (typical movie irony) and things move along on
that path until she steals an embryo from an experimental cloning
project which she works on and the movie takes an intense turn for the
darker side.
Flash forward seven years and the world has fallen in to turmoil,
presumably from our meddling with cloning, and the heroes struggle to
survive in the apocalyptic world. The movie seems on the surface like
some preachy church movie, but I've never seen a "church move" like
this one... it's violent, realistic and shows a fairly complex side of
how religion is perverted by extremists - the "evil" guy in the movie
is the "most religious," for example.
Overall the film gave me the creeps and gave me a lot more to think
about than the typical sci-fi horror flick you'd expect from low
budget filmmakers. I recommend this movie to anybody who wants to pay
attention and see something more thought provoking and psychological
than a movie that relies on scary surprises.
Why?
At least Jesus rose from the dead. This movie didn't. Save your $.
No debate…it's awful for several reasons
For Horror fans: There is nothing scary. At one point it seemed that it would be, but it quickly became nothing more than waiting around for the climax.
For people who want good acting: Not here at all. You can tell it's everyone's first time acting. Painful.
For plot lovers: if you read the synopsis, you are just twiddling your thumbs waiting for them to reveal what you already read. And there is no excitement along the way.
I don't mind when religion plays a part of the plot, but it's clear that the sole purpose of this movie is to tell people to get ready for the rapture.
Really not worth a rent.
