Plot Summary

This critically acclaimed Sundance breakout is hailed as one of the best horror films of the year. Tormented by an unknown entity, a young couple fights to survive a road trip-turned-nightmare when they’re trapped in a claustrophobic backwoods maze on a dark road. On one of their first dates, Tom (Iain De Caestecker of TV’s AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D) and Lucy (Alice Englert of BEAUTIFUL CREATURES) drive to a music festival in a remote countryside village. But when they leave the main road to look for their hotel they quickly become hopelessly lost. Misleading road signs send them in circles and soon night sets in. As their anxiety escalates they discover they are not alone, and this sadistic game spirals into a white-knuckle ride for survival. Costars Allen Leech (TV’s DOWNTON ABBEY, THE IMITATION GAME).

Fresh: Rarely have so few commonplace ingredients produced so many uncommon chills. – Jeannette Catsoulis, New York Times, Mar 6, 2014

Fresh: Crisp camerawork and amplified sound yield paranoia aplenty in this sharp-looking Sundance midnight movie, making it hard to imagine another director getting anywhere near this much mileage out of three actors and a car. – Peter Debruge, Variety, Oct 25, 2013

Fresh: Lovering keeps "In Fear" visually absorbing through unsettling close-ups and a well-paced series of scares. – Inkoo Kang, Los Angeles Times, Mar 6, 2014

Fresh: A compact, effective thriller set in way-rural Ireland, Jeremy Lovering's In Fear makes the most of three actors, a car and a network of narrow roads winding through the woods. – John DeFore, Hollywood Reporter, Oct 25, 2013

Decent

Wouldn't pay the money if I were you. Decently interesting but nothing special. Don't listen to rotten tomatoes reviews. Stick to the customer reviews. For some reason rotten tomatoes always has
High review for crappy movies and bad reviews for the great ones.

Stupid, ridiculous, meaningless trash.

Nothing to say about this film except to forget what you did with the last ninety minutes of your life.

Not what I expected

So I was extremely excited to see this considering the reviews were outstanding and I heard a lot about it from it's showing at sun dance. It was beautifully shot and the production value was really good but honestly it just wasn't that scary at all. There was a couple of jump scares but not enough to keep you on edge and when you actually figure out what was going on it seemed all to simple and a bit of a let down. All in all is worth the rental price when it's available for rent but in my opinion not worth the purchase price.a decent movie that is entertaining but just not at the scare level I expected it to be.
