Plot Summary
Academy Award-winner Judy Garland ("The Wizard of Oz," "Meet Me in St. Louis") stars as a Chicago music store salesgirl who corresponds with a man through a dating service. She falls in love only to discover he's a despised co-worker. A musical remake of the acclaimed "The Shop Around the Corner" co-stars Van Johnson ("Battleground," "State of the Union"), Oscar-nominee Spring Byington ("Angels in the Outfield") and Oscar-honoree Buster Keaton ("The General"). Look for the screen debut of Judy's Oscar-winning daughter Liza Minnelli ("Cabaret," "Arthur").

absolutly ADORABLE !!!
I love this movie, and would recomend it to anyone from 1 to 100! It is so cute and one of my personal favorites. I never get tired of Judy or Van, and putting them together in this classic film was no mistake! Two other movies that have the same plot and are just as wonderful are, "The Shop Around the Corner" ( the origanal one, with James Stewart) and also "You've Got Mail" ( a more recent release, staring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks). Whatever one you choose, all three are wonderful and you will not be disapointed.
Great old movie
I love the story of rivals falling in love. I love all three versions: Shop around the corner, In the good old summertime, and You've got mail. They're all awesome.
Simply wonderful!
This movie is a true classic! Judy Garland is great (as always) as the rival sales clerk. Van Johnson is funny, yet I can't understand why he doesn't find Judy attractive! He must be crazy, she looked beautiful! Btw, Liza Minnelli is sooo cute! In my opinion she looks just about the same as an adult, her eyes and mouth at least. This is wonderful, every bit as good as the old one (and the new one of that matter)!
