Davis and de Havilland!

What a pair they make as sisters who are the exact opposite! You'll love this picture!

Such a great movie!

I can't believe I hadn't heard of it before. Bette Davis is predictably perfect - a complete diva. I might even read the book by Ellen Glasgow! Fun to see "Melanie" and "Mammy" in another good movie together, and this one so much more progressive about race relations than other movies of the era. I personally love the movie Kitty Foyle, so it was fun to see Dennis Morgan again, also. Finally, it was set in my hometown of Richmond, Virginia! Fun to hear cities around me referenced throughout. RENT IT! You'll love it.

Bette Davis' first REAL mean role

"Of Human Bondage" may considered but i see this as her first mean role. becuase in this one, she's jsut plain cold hearted and in "Of human Bondage" she was hurt so many times,so it was somewhat understandable ,her behaviour. Olivia de Havilland is such a great actress, and Bette Davis outshines her in this one, simply becuase Bette's character has more to do in the film. some of the scenes you REALLY want to wring bette's neck!
