Plot Summary

Inspiring and rich, INGREDIENTS unearths the roots of the local food movement and digs into the stories of the chefs, farmers and activists transforming our broken food system. This upbeat, beautifully-photographed film introduces us to the verdant farms and pioneering restaurants where good food is produced and served. From innovative farm-to-table programs in Harlem to picturesque sheep farms in Oregonメs Willamette Valley, INGREDIENTS shows the heart of an alternative food system ヨ healthy, sustainable and tasty. Through interviews with world-class chefs such as Alice Waters and Greg Higgins and sustainability-minded farmers in Oregon, New York and Ohio, INGREDIENTS weaves an uplifting tale that is equal parts earthy rebellion and mouth-watering homage.

You’re going to learn something “new"

I have watched so many documentaries and read a few books on this topic, and I was concerned that I wasn’t going to learn anything new here. But the thing is, you can never stop learning about permaculture, organic farming, local farming, quality food and preparation, and how our health and sustainability depends on this. This documentary continued to drive home the message that life and nature requires real balance and that our purchase isn’t just about what were going to eat but what kind of future we want.

Oregon is the primary state featured but places like New York are making organic vegetables affordable through various programs as well. The point being if society says this is important then we can make this a common practice and not a luxury.

I believe some excellent points were made in this film. I’d recommend that you watch it and share it with others.

Eye Opening

Really enjoyed this … quite eye opening to both what’s currently going on in with our local farmers as well as what they’ve had to go through …. and it was surprising that it was all based out of Portland, Oregon which is where I live :-)
