Plot Summary
The Koran is one of the most ideologically influential texts in the world, with over a billion Muslims following its precepts. Yet within this singular religious community, there are profound differences in the attitudes about peace, violence, punishment, forgiveness and the status of women. This eye-opening goes deep into the heart of the Muslim world to explore the history and current state of Islam. It also delves into the personal lives of its subjects, who range from ayatollahs to and grand imams to simple farmers and women living in veiled seclusion; their relationship with this holy Book reveals a complex, beautiful and often contradictory guide for humanity.

Def Recomended
For the last three years I have been living and working in Cairo, Egypt. My background consists of physio therapy and professional sports. I have taken it upon myself to learn the language and educate myself upon the Middle East. This documentary was done VERY well, and this is speaking from a western foreigner that has thrown himself into the middle of the "real" Egypt. From the people that live off of less than a dollar a day, to the corrupt government that beats and sodomizes them. This documentary goes into the real belief behind Islam- and the governments version to control their population.
The real Koran
This movie is truly great. I was hoping to get a movie that explained both sides of how Muslims view and understand the Koran and that is exactly what this movie did. It ultimately explains that the Koran has many contradictory versus (like advocating peace in one verse, then advocating the extermination of the enemy in another) and ultimately, the person is to choose which way it is to be interpreted. It's easy to see where radical terrorists get their ideas but it's also easy to see how one can be moderate. My opinion at the end of the movie is that unless you follow the guidelines of Islam, then you are subject to their killings. Sorry but truth is truth. Just watch the movie.
The Koran
From my point of view, this movie/documentary was a quick and informative piece on a multilayered subject. It seems like there are many perspectives and feelings of the interpretation of the Koran. I found the movie worth viewing, definetly eye opening!
