Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Watching Inspector Gadget is like watching a human Swiss Army knife for nearly an hour and a half. – Lawrence Van Gelder, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Rotten: Inspector Gadget demonstrates how a movie with little more on its mind than tickling the eyeballs of 7-year-olds can feature spiffy, jack-in-the-box special effects and still end up a dud. – Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly, Feb 28, 2011

Rotten: The movie feels like a demonstration reel for toys, action figures and future DisneyQuest installations. – Mark Caro, Chicago Tribune, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: It has going for it a lot of expensive-looking special effects, but little in the way of wit or excitement. – Jonathan Foreman, New York Post, Jun 24, 2010

Love It!

I don't know what these people are talking about. I loved this movie when I was younger, and I still love it now! It is an all around funny movie about good vs. evil, and while it may be directed to a younger audience, I still love it. Now, if we talk about the sequel to this movie, Inspector Gadget 2, then yeah, that movie wasn't that great. Inspector Gadget is about security gaurd John Brown who dreams of being on the police force, but has never gotten that far. When he gets the chance to stop a crime, he chases down the villian, almost dying in the process. But Dr. Brenda Bradford steps in and saves John's life by making him into the ultimate policeman, who now is part man, part gadget. The evil man who commited the crime lost his hand, is now called Claw, and is after Gadget. This is a great movie for families and for laughs, but it also sends a message to kids. I give it five stars!!

I remember

I loved this movie when I was 6. The horrable tv sequel that came out 3 years ago killed the series although I loved Mathew Brodrick's Feris Bueller's day off, classic.
