Plot Summary

Academy Award-nominee and Golden Globe-winner Tom Cruise, Academy Award-nominee and Golden Globe-winner Brad Pitt and Golden Globe-nominee Kirsten Dunst are among the undead in this spellbinding adaptation of Anne Rice's ("Queen of the Damned," "Exit to Eden") bestselling horror novel. When an ambitious reporter agrees to interview a man who claims to have been a vampire since the 18th century, he hears a hypnotic, shocking, violent, moving and erotically charged tale, detailing what it was like existing for the past two-hundred years as one of the living dead. The powerhouse cast also includes Golden Globe and Emmy Award-nominee Antonio Banderas; Academy Award, Golden Globe and Emmy Award-nominee Stephen Rea ("V for Vendetta," "The Reaping"); Christian Slater; and Thandie Newton ("The Pursuit of Happyness," "Crash"). Directed by Academy Award-winner Neil Jordan ("The Crying Game," "The End of the Affair"), and produced by David Geffen ("Little Shop of Horrors," "Personal Best").

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Interview with the Vampire promises a constantly surprising vampire story, and it keeps that promise. – Janet Maslin, New York Times, Aug 24, 2008

Rotten: For all its visionary brilliance, the movie version of Interview never lets us close enough to see ourselves in Louis. We're dazzled but unmoved. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Aug 24, 2008

Fresh: It's about seduction, and either you succumb to its inky entrapments or you resist. When its mojo was working, I was happy to be had. – David Ansen, Newsweek, Oct 23, 2009

Fresh: My complaint about the film is that not very much happens, in the plot sense. – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times, Jul 7, 2010

Don't pass up this classic of the vampire genre

I've been waiting for this to hit the store. This movie is essentially the modern vampire classic. The characters and story are believable, rich, elegant, and compelling to watch. Cruise and Pitt both give excellent performances, as well as Slater. An all around great movie and one that any vampire lover should own.

the greatest movie ever made

this is the greatest movie ever made this is what started my unhealthy obsession with brad pitt.. if i could give it more then five stars i would

Best Vampire Movie Made!

I love all vampire movies and books and this is my all time favorite vampire movie. The acting is great. Although I am not a Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt fan in general they were excellent in this movie just what I imagined them to be from the Anne Rice books. Must have movies if you are into vampires.
