Plot Summary
Rogers and Clarke (Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman) are two inept songwriters, down on their luck and desperate for money. Taking the advice of their shifty agent, the duo are whisked off on a tour of the mystical republic of Ishtar. On their arrival, our heroes are separately recruited into spying for opposing sides of a planned revolution, while simultaneously vying for the attention of a gorgeous female freedom fighter (Isabelle Adjani). But Clarke and Rogers make worse spies than they do songwriters, and soon they're left stranded in the desert with only a blind camel and several CIA assassins for company.

Oh, yeah… it's here
I admit it. I liked this movie. Is it my favorite? Is it a cult classic? Is it underrated? No, no and no. But it's not the worst movie ever made either. Perhaps it's because I'm a songwriter/performer that I can relate to the main characters in this film (Hoffman and Beatty). I've met a number of people who, like them, have far more confidence and ambition than talent - people who are embarrassingly inept at the thing they love most. It's sad really… and I suppose it's their failings that make the first half of this film enjoyable to me - kind of like a car wreck that you can't help but stare at. Anyways, approached with low expectations, this film has a few laughs.
Ishtar
I haven't personally bought this off of iTunes, but I can tell you that, even though I was only born in 2001, the humor of Ishtar was not lost on me. If you take a minute to go in with a fresh mind, not taking all the negative reviews it received back when people didn't understand its greatness, it is wonderful. My father did not expose me to all of the bad reviews until after I watched the movie. I ask you to just give this wonderful movie a try. Go in with an open, non-prejudiced mind, and come out with your own opinion. Thank you.
Horrid
Lost power during the middle of this - thank god
