Plot Summary
One year after a brutal incident tore their family apart; a grieving son "October" and his estranged father "Russell" embark on a journey into the wild to reconcile their past. When a horrifying accident leaves Russell badly injured, and strands them in the wild, it is up to October to save them both. However, this wilderness is not what it seems, and as they deteriorate, so does their concept of reality. Horrifying creatures and ghostly apparitions lurk in the shadows. Is it all in their heads, or could the truth be far more terrible? Lance Henriksen stars in this nightmarish descent into the very heart of darkness where more than your guilt can eat you alive. At its core "It's In the Blood" is a father son story that deconstructs the prototypical ‘creature feature’, incorporating elements of sci-fi / mystical realism, and psychological thriller.

Amazing
For a first time director, Scooter delivers! Well worth the watch.
Well worth watching!
Watching this film, it's hard to believe it is a "first" film because of how well it is executed from way the movie was shot, edited, and overall delivered. Moment by moment, it is very well done. The story itself is moving in that it deals with personal demons/trauma and how much people run from the things that hurt them rather than dealing with them head on. I also feel that it is more of a psychological thriller than a horror, but it does have it's moments of scariness. I gave this movie 4 stars instead of 5 though because there is some ambiguity to the story that I as a viewer do not like, but overall it is definitely well worth watching. I also believe this is the first of greater things to come from director Scooter Downey.
Couldn't care less
The film has a running time of one hour and 20 minutes. I stopped it 50 minutes in. There was nothing about this movie that drew my attention, and while the dynamic between the lead characters was great, the movie itself was poorly written and several segments made very little sense. There are virtually no redeeming qualities about this film, save for Lance Henriksen, who is a great actor. The rest of the movie can disappear into the bowels of cinema, as far as I'm concerned. DO not waste your time on this.
