Plot Summary
Academy Award-nominated animator Don Hertzfeldt dazzles with this touching and darkly humorous character study that follows a man grappling with the meaning of life in the wake of troubling events. Blending traditional animation with experimental special effects, this film was single-handedly created over the course of several years.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Mr. Hertzfeldt proves that pizazz isn't everything. Enriching his bare-bones drawings with a few well-deployed visual tricks, he tells the story of an Everyman who at first seems merely Thurberesque.
Fresh: Seeing "the years [slip] out of [Bill's] head" in this 71-minute compendium is nothing short of revelatory.
Fresh: There's no denying that Hertzfeldt has a voice and a vision, or that It's Such a Beautiful Day is unique. I think William Fisher, wherever he may be, would appreciate it greatly.
Fresh: Funny, oddly affecting and cherishably personal: in a better world, this would be on 300 screens, and filler such as The Croods would have to be smuggled in under the radar.
