Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: As Ivanhoe, Robert Taylor does a good, sturdy, manly job and George Sanders is intriguingly fluid as the emotionally torn De Bois-Guilbert. – Bosley Crowther, New York Times, Mar 24, 2011

Fresh: Ivanhoe is a great romantic adventure, mounted extravagantly, crammed with action, and emerges as a spectacular feast. – Variety Staff, Variety, Mar 24, 2011

Fresh: The dialogue and script are fatuously Americanised from Scott's original, but these chivalric Hollywood sagas still have a strange poetic quality about them. – Time Out, Mar 24, 2011

Not Bad!

This is a picture worth viewing if you're not expecting a Ben-Hur type picture with Lord of the Rings or Robin Hood (the new one) battles! I liked it! Just remember they worked with what they had! I don't remember there being that much blood, but don't hold that against them! :)

Great old movie

incredible movie with great actors!! Fun to watch

A Classic

I would call it a great classic as great as robin hood. For what they had to use, they did a fantastic job. I loved Elizabeth Taylor in this! all the action is top notch, with not too much gore but some death. All the costumes are well put and not cheesy. There is not a lot of comedy, but the jokes that are in this are great. Overall its a favorite classic :)
