Plot Summary
Embarking on a national publicity tour to promote his new book, "Palestine Peace Not Apartheid," former US president Jimmy Carter ignites an international firestorm of controversy when he argues that only Israel's complete withdrawal from the occupied territories can bring lasting peace to the Middle East. Intimate, informative and altogether engrossing, Jimmy Carter Man from Plains is a candid portrait of a Nobel Prize-winning humanitarian and statesman whose compassion and steadfast sense of justice remains undiminished by time. Directed by Academy Award(r)-winner Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs Best Director, 1991; Philadelphia, 1993).

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Demme doesn't insert himself, there's no structured interview format, we never see him or even hear his voice. He simply, easily immerses us. It's the opposite of Fahrenheit 9/11. And that's refreshing.
Fresh: An intriguing document of a man's public and private life and has yet further value as the first significant film ever made about a former U.S. president.
Fresh: It won't utterly rewrite Carter's history, and it won't convert anybody in this divided country, but Man from Plains will remind us that principle, humility and intelligence have a place in image-is-everything American politics.
Rotten: Essentially a soap opera.

A MAGNIFICENT TRIBUTE TO A TRUE HERO
Demme has done a beautiful, quiet, subtle job of showing Jimmy Carter as he is: a genuine, selfless, articulate, brave, brilliant man and one of America's most ethical and intelligent Presidents. Highly recommended.
Politics That Matter
Watch Jimmy Carter, carefully. How he greets each person no matter their status. His choice of words. What he's trying to communicate. How he doesn't take offense, but continues to persuade . . . andl learn. This is a life worth observing, remembering, emulating. And I think Israel is lucky to have him on their side, as he does the very difficult job of speaking about Palestinian rights. And on top of that, this film was put together beautifully. Loved it; I think you will, too.
A True American/Global Hero
Wow, I'm in awe. What a masterpiece of cinema. A brilliantly crafted work of a lifetime of what I consider, an unsurpassed commitment to peace on our planet. I love you Mr. President. And thank you Itunes for having this film accessible to so many.
