Plot Summary
Academy Award, Golden Globe and BAFTA nominee for Best Foreign Film, Joyeux Noel (Merry Christmas) tells the true-life story of the spontaneous Christmas Eve truce declared by Scottish, French and German troops in the trenches of World War I. Enemies leave their weapons behind for one night as they band together in brotherhood and forget about the brutalities of war. Diane Krüger (Troy), Daniel Brühl (Good Bye Lenin!) and Benno Fürmann (The Princess and the Warrior) head a first-rate international cast in a truly powerful, must-see film.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: An elegantly crafted drama that derives its eerie, ethereal mood as much from the sounds of war -- and their absence -- as the sights of combat.
Fresh: Carion has given it exactly the qualities that often appeal most strongly to moviemakers and humanists: social breadth, warmth, humor, sympathetic characters and a passionate sense of justice.
Fresh: [Images of WWI are] terrible, but shadowy and distant, and it takes an extraordinary film on the order of Joyeux Noel to make it all suddenly vital, immediate and human.
Rotten: It's hard not to admire the film's sense of nobility. It's harder not to find the movie dull.

Incredible.
If you ever need your faith in humanity restored, give this film a watch.
Excellent film
Sometimes truth is really stranger than fiction.... you'll love this movie and watch it every year at Christmas time. Guaranteed!
One of the greatest movies ever made
this is undoubtedly one of the best movies ive seen in many years. Do not be mistaken, this movie has little to do with religion, this movie is about war and soldiers, and this movie is about how people can come together no matter where they are from. Or no matter what faction they belong to. i was moved and blown away by this movie, also there is action here and there which adds to the excitment. i would most definately reccomend that you buy it, if you have any sense for good movies you will not regret it.
