Plot Summary

During the era of the Roman empire, Brutus and Cassius lead a conspiracy to kill Caesar, only to fall to Mark Antony. Oscar-nominated Shakespeare adaptation stars Academy Award-winners Marlon Brando ("The Godfather"), John Gielgud ("Arthur,"), Greer Garson ("Mrs. Miniver"), Deborah Kerr ("From Here to Eternity") and Edmond O'Brien ("The Wild Bunch") and Oscar-nominees James Mason ("North by Northwest") and Louis Calhern ("The Asphalt Jungle"). If only Brando had done more Shakespeare...

A very good, compact adaptation of the play. This is your only opportunity to see Marlon Brando tackle Shakespeare and he's magnificent as Mark Antony. Otherwise, John Gielgud is a solid, complex Cassius, and James Mason is an adequate (though not exceptional) Brutus. The play itself is sometimes considered difficult to stage, as it tends to drag in Act IV (after the funeral orations). In this adaptation, however, the shortened script manages to keep things moving at a decent pace to the end.

Great Film

A perfect example of the potential in all of Shakespeare's plays with an amazing cast that performs this sensationally. Its a must see and one for the ages.
