JUPITERS WIFE

A startling look into the life of one of the USA's nameless and hopeless homeless. In a land of so much there is the throw away society - - her included. A wonderful and touching documentary that should make one look and listen - & help these unfortunates as we take our meals and comfort too lightly.

Wonderful Narritive!

As you watch Maggie's life on the screen, it's hard to imagine that what she tells isn't real. The patturns of her thoughts and the webs of her life experiance take one on a journey of further exploration. She could be anyone we see homeless on the street with a story. We want to protect her, yet she needs no protection. A streetwise woman with a big heart for her dogs, allows us to that place between her two ears. The weaving of her past, present and future.

Jupiter's Wife

What a glorious unaffected film ! I found it haunting and beautifully authentic. Maggie (Jupiter's Wife) lives in Central Park. While it might be tempting to consider this film a documentary on homelessness, Michel Negroponte, the film's creator, doesn't push this agenda. Instead we're able to discover Maggie without coaching. She is a bright, complex, fully formed woman with a mental illness that never completely subsumes her rational mind. Instead, we get to know and love Maggie on her terms as the film unfolds. While it's true that Maggie hears voices and struggles to remain functional, during the course of watching the film we come to admire Maggie's intelligence, her devotion to her family of stray dogs, and level of comfort with her surroundings Through it all, we see that much of who Maggie is and what she does helps her to come to terms with her checkered past. Michel Negroponte is a talented director and stunning filmmaker. This film deserves each of the impressive awards it has been given and more !! Both Maggie and the film come across as genuine and thoroughly appealing, lacking the tiniest bit of touching up for drama's sake--a real testimony to Negroponte's powerful ability to give his camera free rein to tell the story.
