Fresh: Part of Me works hard to prove it's more than a glorified infomercial, and one reason it is more is that Perry has a startling story to tell.
Fresh: It's difficult to assess the authenticity of Perry's big-screen portrait, shaped by handlers, friends, family and gushing Katy Kats. But her zeal, geeky enthusiasm and generous spirit feel genuine.

A FASCINATING LOOK INTO THE LIFE OF MS. PERRY
I'll be honest. I had little to no expectations when I went to see "Katy Perry: Part of Me" in 3D. You'd think that just by the title, it'd be yet another self-promotional piece like last year's "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never", but you'd be surprised how much depth and poignancy Perry's story holds. The film acts as both a compelling documentary and a fun-spirited concert, giving the audience an intimate and entertaining look into the pop star's life. From her humble beginnings as the child of two devoutly religious parents to her meteoric rise to stardom, we learn all about the highs and lows of Katy's journey, including her inspiring work ethic and personal struggles on and off stage. The storytelling is also quite an accomplishment in itself. It's both palpable and honest without ever coming across as too manipulative and forced. Even more impressive is the fact that the flick never feels like an over-glossed ad campaign for Perry, but rather a genuinely inspirational story full of hope, heartbreak, and passion. Yeah, I know it sounds corny, but it's true. And even if the documentary segments don't entertain you, the immersive concert clips surely will. The show is full of energy and excitement, not to mention the songs themselves are pretty catchy. So in the end, I'd have to say "Katy Perry: Part of Me" is a surprisingly satisfying movie that successfully showcases the ups and downs of the star's hectic lifestyle. It may not reach the same heights as other insightful music docs like "Anvil: The Story of Anvil" or even "Michael Jackson: This Is It", but it's still supremely entertaining, mostly benefiting from Katy's natural likability and her knack for showmanship. I recommend seeing this film while it's still in theaters. Even if you aren't a fan of her music, you'll end up having a pretty good time watching it.

Katy really deserved this because she has been in the game longer than justin bieber. WOW I would see this again!. But truly she is a true super star!!
