Pretty Disappointed :(

I love Ken Follett's writing, and I'm leaving this review having read Pillars of the Earth and then watched the miniseries, which was a very good experience for me. After the first episode of Pillars, I thought the movie version was very well done and very well cast.

This gave me high hopes for World Without End, because I read the book and anticipated watching the miniseries afterwards. First and foremost, the entire story is rewritten … so watching the miniseries was a completely different than reading the book outside a few critical parts of the story. If you read and enjoyed World Without End, you won't like the changes they made for this series.

Secondly, Caris was poorly cast. She's difficult in the book, but she's still likable as a character. You'll get tired of looking at her onscreen, and I can't say that she's ever likable during this series. Also, they did a poor job conveying the thirsty love that is supposed to exist between Caris and Merthin, which is the main story within WWE.

I watched the entire series, and I was pretty disappointed overall.
