Rotten: Gladiator lite. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Nov 24, 2006

Rotten: A title card says this King Arthur, grimly directed by Antoine Fuqua, is based on the latest research into the mythic past. Maybe so. But one can't help thinking the research that really counted was that into the more recent box-office charts. – Richard Schickel, TIME Magazine, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: It's hard to care about a valiant groping for accuracy when a story is so badly told you can't tell what the devil is going on. – Stephanie Zacharek, Salon.com, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: If this is history demystified, give me myth. – Jonathan Rosenbaum, Chicago Reader, Jun 24, 2010

If you don't have anything smart to say. . .

Let's get some things straight first. This is NOT a true story! The idea behind this film was to depict a feasible Arthur that the legends may have been based on. The basic historical events did occur, but most of this is fictional. To quote some credible critic, "This is the best movie nobody went to see". The cast is fantastic (Clive Owen anyone?)! Each actor brings realistic emotion to their character and makes each individual's story relatable. Ioan Gruffudd creates a Lancelot unlike any other (my favorite by far). Arthur isn't a perfect king, and Kiera's Gwen is a lot less pretty and proper than expected (you can clearly see that in the cover art). Though the knights may be hardened by war, they certainly display a very real pain. Though the plot revolves mainly around Arthur and the knights' last task, there are many other conflicts that keep me entertained every time I view the DVD (the director's cut is great, but omits one of Bors' entertaining speeches). The relationship between Arthur and Lancelot is especially entertaining. Bors and Dagonet, despite the obnociousness of Bors and Dag being a man of few words, are the best of friends. Dagonet also grows attached to a young boy as if he is his father (adorable!). Galahad is the young, naive, one who seems to be the only one who has a chance at a real life. Those of you who are quick to cry may find yourselves tearing up a bit at the end as well. I must also mention that the score, by the amazingly talented Hans Zimmer, is perfect for the mood of the film. It just adds to the generally dark atmosphere created with the use of colorful lighting (unlike anything I'd seen before) and an emotional plot. I highly recommend King Arthur. Don't believe any of this "IT'S THE WORST MOVIE EVER" junk. Anyone who says that hasn't been to the theater much. I don't particularly like Kiera Knightly either, but I won't lie and pretend that she completely killed this movie. If you can take the time to understand the FICTIONAL plot, you'll really enjoy this.

Completely Enjoyable!

I saw this movie on TV and I loved it, and when I looked for the DVD I couldn't find it. I'm very glad that iTunes put this movie on here. The action is great, the story line is well written and the characters have a certain charm about them that makes them likeable. If you enjoy tales of King Arthur and The Knights Of The Round Table then you'll enjoy this movie. The movie is in between of the traditional and non- traditional type of King Arthur tale.

King Arthur is the Best!

King Arthur is one of the best movies around. Keira's performance in this movie is unbelievable. Rock on Keira.
