Plot Summary

King Kelly is the online username of Kelly, a young girl from Long Island, NY who dreams of becoming famous through her webcam strip tease show. Obsessed with the prospect of celebrity, Kelly stops at nothing to get what she wants. She is the center of her own universe, both in real life and in her virtual world. When Kelly's car (with a trunk filled with narcotics, which Kelly unwittingly has agreed to mule) is stolen by her bitter ex-boyfriend on the morning of July 4th, she embarks on a whirlwind 24-hour journey to reclaim what she believes is hers. Enlisting the help of her best friend Jordan, who dotingly follows Kelly's commands, the two girls document their hedonistic misadventure entirely through the perspective of their camera phones.

Fresh: If social satire that elicits scornful laughter is your kind of humor, "King Kelly" will have you doubled over with guilty guffaws. – Stephen Holden, New York Times, Nov 29, 2012

Rotten: Cynical sexploitation neither thrills nor entertains. – John DeFore, Hollywood Reporter, Nov 29, 2012

Fresh: King Kelly is a broad indictment of the emptier side of self-documentation and a more nuanced one of the Internet as a source of affirmation. – Alison Willmore, AV Club, Nov 29, 2012

Fresh: Neel has hit upon a compelling reason for the found-footage gimmick: to indict a narcissistic generation who think their phones make them royalty. – Matt Singer, Time Out New York, Nov 27, 2012

Customer Reviews

This movie is funny, terrifying, and all together totally awesome

Social satire at its best. Totally raunchy in the best sort of way
You have to be cynical and/or have a good sense of humor to like this movie
I would highly recommend

An in depth look at our current society

Cynical, fun, engaging, and bold.

Disturbing and annoying

I rented this because of the great reviews here on iTunes. I was majorly disappointed. I had to fast forward through most of it to get to the end. The main character is annoying, superficial, and down right hard to watch.
