Plot Summary
From Ridley Scott, the visionary director of Black Hawk Down and Gladiator, comes this spectacular epic of courage, honor and adventure. Rotten: Since we barely know what's at stake -- we're too confused and bored to care -- all this fighting means nothing to us, and yet Scott still hopes to rev us up with it.
Fresh: To say that Scott did a beautiful job directing Kingdom of Heaven would be true, but it wouldn't convey the nature of the achievement.
Rotten: The religious sentiment accumulates into a tower of politically correct Jell-O.
Rotten: As Balian and his people withstand the might of Saladin's fiery projectiles, siege towers and the usual computer-generated swarm of soldiers, it's hard not to think we're really watching The Lord of the Rings IV: Legolas Defends Jerusalem.

Okay - BUT the Director's Cut is AWESOME
The film posted here is most likely the theatre version, which was okay, though there wasn't anything fabulous it. Bloom proves that he can really act, not just portray an elf-boy and dashing blacksmith/pirate. Those that try to compare his character to Russell Crowe's Maximus shouldn't, the two roles are just complete opposites. While Crowe was headstrong and a natural born leader (not to mention looking for vengence), Bloom is a poor blacksmith who gradually learns how to fight, lead armies, and eventually try to help create his kingdom. The music is outstanding, probably the best historical piece I've heard since Gladiator, and the cinematography is purely a work of genius. The down side to THIS version of the film was there was little character development, so if feels like you're watching stick figures instead of human beings. The worst part though is when you can literally pick out when scenes were cut too soon or didn't make any sense. The DIRECTOR'S CUT fixes all of that, breathing new life into the characters by delving deeper into their actions and the politics of the world at that time. The THEATRE VERISON of this film is, as I said, okay, but it is the DIRECTOR'S CUT that is totally worth the money
Directors Cut Please
I haven't watched this one yet as I'm waiting for the Directors cut. Can we get someone in iTunes to release the better verion?
Good Movie
This is a good movie. This version of the movie lacks character developement and seems to drag at the begining. The Directors cut is the best version of the movie but it is much longer. This movie is a perfect example of networks thinking that they are making the movie better by cutting key parts of a script.
