Plot Summary

When Anna's (Amy Adams) four-year anniversary to her boyfriend passes without an engagement ring, she decides to take matters into her own hands. Inspired by an Irish tradition that allows women to propose to men on Leap Day, Anna follows Jeremy (Adam Scott) to Dublin to propose to him. But after landing on the wrong side of Ireland, she must enlist the help of the handsome and carefree local Declan (Matthew Goode) to get her across the country. Along the way, they discover that the road to love can take you to very unexpected places.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: What makes Leap Year so singularly dispiriting is precisely that it is bad without distinction a" so witless, charmless and unimaginative that it can be described as a movie only in a strictly technical sense. – A.O. Scott, New York Times, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: Leap Year may be the least funny Hollywood comedy to take advantage of Irish tax credits since The Honeymooners. – Lou Lumenick, New York Post, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: If the premise seems lame, the actual script by Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont is far worse, leaning on so many cliched situations it's a wonder 45 other screenwriters weren't credited. – Tom Long, Detroit News, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: The most charming of actors can be left flailing in the face of a feeble script and direction. – Liam Lacey, Globe and Mail, Jun 24, 2010

Very cute(:

I loved the scenery(however it's spelled haha), acting, humor, and simple plot. It's a feel-good movie and it left me happy(;

You can watch it over and over

Very cute and fun, a movie for all girls to love. Well written and well done.

It's the type of movie I can watch over and over again without losing interest.

Leap year

I loved leap year!!! I had been waiting for it to come out in theatres for months. I got my whole grade to come to the rave and watch it. It mostly girls though but anyways it was great. although I felt really sorry for the chicken. Amy Adams is great in all her movies. We all say she's not acting she is the character! She plays it so well and she is going to go far in her career. Also congrats to her for having a baby. (even though she's probably heard it a thousand times) So if you haven't seen leap year you must. You laugh, cry etc... So buy it!!!
