Should have passed on it
John Wayne's performance is awkward and insincere, actually on the verge of too creepy. There's no chemistry between he and the always-gorgeous Sophia Loren. The direction is haphazard, and makes the character development shallow. Every character has a history, but I never believed it. I like both Wayne and Loren a lot - but not in this movie. This needed to be grand-scale film making, but I think Hathaway wasn't quite ready yet. I wish I would have passed on this.
