Plot Summary

With over seven minutes of previously unavailable scenes, the director's cut of Lethal Weapon is a long-overdue present for fans. Riggs' solitary home life and the tragic loss spurring him in a reckless disregard for his own safety now come into greater focus. We see that recklessness is new scenes underlining the differences between the two cops. Murtaugh, just 50, needs reassurance about his skills at a firing range. Riggs, not caring if he sees another birthday, coolly walks into a schoolyard sniper's field of fire. All the humor and adrenaline that made this original an entertainment milestone are here, too. No scenes have been removed. But new action and new insight are now included. Include yourself in the excitement.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Pardon me for having groaned in anticipation of what, in the full perspective-warping heat of the summer movie season, turns out to be one of the nicer blow-'em-ups around. – Janet Maslin, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Rotten: Mindless, sadistic violence juxtaposed with rote sentimentality: this is how Hollywood has finally solved the family-values conundrum, the question of how to entertain the blood- and sex-starved masses and be morally proactive at the same time. – TIME Magazine, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: It matters little that the film is rife with non sequiturs, nonsense and nihilistic violence, because its heroes are so darn buoyant and charming. – Leonard Klady, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: There's no plot worth describing, no repartee wittier than 'Oh shut up,' no acting moments that rise above the level of posing. – Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times, Jan 28, 2006
