Plot Summary

Jessica goes to the Connecticut countryside for some rest following her release from an institution where she has just recovered from a nervous breakdown. Instead, they become entangled in a creepy tale of the supernatural which involves murder, an attempted drowning, a séance, disappearing bodies, vampires and constant torment for Jessica. Her marriage is strained, she hears voices, and she can't escape the mental turbulence which haunts her – for there really is something after Jessica.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Let's Scare Jessica to Death spends 90 minutes tapping lightly but incessantly on its heroine's fragile sanity, as though it were some sort of Faberge S&M model egg. – Eric Henderson, Slant Magazine, Sep 1, 2006

As a child of the 70's this movie was scary

I am so excited to find this on iTunes! Seeing this movie on tv in the 70's was one of the scariest moments for me (Don't Be Afraid of the Dark is another scary moment). I'm a huge Dark Shadows fan, and this movie had some of the same elements. Can't wait for the nostalgia when I watch it again as an adult.

this reminds me why i love 70's horror

they just don't make them like they used to! as an avid fan of 70's horror, this had all the requisite wonders for me: great location, interesting plot, semi-cheesy acting, and the gritty texture they just can't quite replicate anymore. i would highly recommend this to anyone fond of the "golden years" of horror.

Everything a suspense/horror film should be...

The suspense builds to a nerve-twisting crescendo in this classic '70s film about mental illness, ghosts (real and imagined) and vampires. Hauntingly beautiful, and at times, shockingly brutal (though never gory)... I encourage anyone who has not yet seen this gem to do so -- you may discover exceptional storytelling and filmmaking elements missing from the genre today.
