Plot Summary

Too embarrassed to tell his pals he failed his driving test, Les (Corey Haim) decides to throw caution to the wind (as 16 year olds are apt to do) and go on with his weekend plans. Not only do his friends, including crazy Dean (Corey Feldman), expect him to transport them around, but he has a date with his dream girl (Heather Graham) and nothing is going to stop him from meeting her. He steals his grandfather's 1972 Cadillac and promises himself that he will get it back without his parent's knowledge. But nothing goes according to plan, and Les is suddenly involved in a nightmare of an evening!

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Anyone old enough to have a license is probably much too old to be amused by License to Drive. – Caryn James, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Rotten: About all that's worth noting is that the Caddy gets demolished and that the stars remain intact (though practically everyone will wish that it were the other way around). – Hal Hinson, Washington Post, Aug 6, 2007

Rotten: Up until about the halfway mark of this movie, I was having a very good time. Then, somehow, it ran out of energy. – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: Everything you've ever hated about American teenagers, their music, money, fashion sense, their values, and most of all their pin-ups, in one auto-destructive movie. – Geoff Andrew, Time Out, Aug 17, 2007

God bless you Corey Haim

Corey Haim, you will be missed. Your talent was always so evident, and your genuine love of life showed in all the characters you played. Go back stage to the green room. For now, the play has ended, and your real life with God takes on a whole new world of dreams to come. God bless you, now and always.
