Plot Summary
Academy Award-winner Kevin Kline ("A Prairie Home Companion," "A Fish Called Wanda") stars as George Monroe, a divorcee who is diagnosed with terminal cancer. Hayden Christensen ("Jumper," "Star Wars" episodes I - III") was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance as Sam, George's contemptuous teenage son, who spends his time doing drugs, engaging in small-time prostitution and avoiding his dying father. In a last-chance effort to fulfill one of his life's dreams, George, an architect, begins rebuilding an old house. He enlists Sam's help in the hopes that the project will enable him to fix his troubled relationship with Sam, and with his ex-wife, whom he abandoned.

Rotten: Sadly, Christensen is the only jolt of excitement in this turgid soap opera.
Rotten: May satisfy those who like their movies to offer life lessons and provide role models.
Fresh: The movie gets us to feel about the characters, their relationships, and their circumstances, and that goes a long way towards allowing us to forgive the screenplays' occasional mis-steps and wrong turns.
Fresh: House may suffer from excessive and unnecessary ornamentation, but its foundation -- Kline's performance -- is solid and strong.

This movie is really good! Like the plot and everything! Great acting! Was wondering when it would be added on here! Recommended!
Heartfelt! Brilliant!
I haven't ever watched a film in my 59 years that touched me the way this movie has. The content was as close to my life as the movie was. The actors were perfectly matched for the characters they played. The scenery was magnificent, especially Catalina Island in the background ( I flew there regularly ) and especially the house where most was played out was the perfect scenery.
Whenever I need my huge ego deflated, I watch the movie.
I am so pleased that the iTunes Store finally had it! I requested it 2 years ago.
If you have a family with some dysfunction, then WATCH THIS MOVIE!

This movie is one of my favorite movies of all time with my favorite actor Hayden Christensen
This movie is emotionally has lots of drama
And has one of the greatest plots in a movie I have ever watched
