Plot Summary

Oakland-bred comic and best-selling author Moshe Kasher comes back to the Bay Area in this standup special. Back on his home turf, Kasher finds comedy in these uproarious stories about the people he's met -and how they see him

A racist who won't be called such because he's Jewish

Kasher's absurd, racist, stereotypical bit on Ireland yields him a 1 star from me. There are no Jews in Ireland because it's an "antisemitic" country? Really, Kasher, or is it that the Irish aren't, you know, Jewish? Why not ask Alan Shatter one of Ireland's top politicians what he thinks. He spends most of his time concerned about Israel and Jews, too. Anyway, I think he crossed the line from good natured faux racism [Jeselnik, Burr] to just a supercilious genuine racism and moralizing that detracted from his comedy. There's no question Kasher is a smart guy, and could potentially be an above-average stand up, but there's a real air of preachiness, judgment, and what I took to be straight up racism in the guy's act. In America, unlike in France, you can say what you like without fines or jail, but racism isn't funny, and in my opinion, Kasher is a straight up racist. And that's not funny.
