Plot Summary

Arrogant Hollywood talent agent, Josh Ross (David Moscow) is sent to Guatemala to find Oscar-winning actor Jack Palladin (Ben Gazzara). Having never met, the search is emotionally complicated as the long-time retired star was once married to Josh's late mother. Josh's contempt for the 'old' actor mirrors his comedic distaste for the local community whose help he desperately needs to find Palladin. What he hopes will be a quick and lucrative deal turns into a humorous yet soul-searching journey for both men.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: A semicoherent, overacted melange of travelogue, farce and suds – Stephen Holden, New York Times, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: Looking for Palladin meanders around Antigua (Guatemala) at a leisurely gait and enjoys the presence of Ben Gazzara in its central role. That's about all there is to find, however. – Michael Ordona, Los Angeles Times, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Requiring cuts, some sense of direction, and dialogue that doesn't either declare or dither, the film looks like it was fun to make. – Nicolas Rapold, Village Voice, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: Looking for Palladin has a split personality. It starts as a comedy but morphs into an icky family melodrama. It should have stuck with the yuks. – V.A. Musetto, New York Post, Jun 24, 2010
