Plot Summary
From Sundance 2012, this riveting and timely documentary is about the personal and public journey of a man, Bishop Gene Robinson, whose two defining passions are in direct conflict: his love for God and for his partner Mark. From his consecration in 2003, at which he wore a bullet-proof vest, to churches in small town America to London's Lambeth Palace, Bishop Robinson calls all to stand for equality for LGBT people both in the eyes of the church and the eyes of the law.
Customer Reviews
Love this film
Progressive filmmaking with a message of love. Before you judge, listen to this perspective.
Love Free or Die
This film brings the question of Equal Rights for Love to life in the form of a very real person - Bishop Gene Robinson. He's been in the press a lot, but you never get a sense of his gentle humor and accessible humanity like you do in this doc. If you know someone who's on the fence about gay marriage, give them this movie to watch. If you know someone who can't quite put their own words around making their case, this will provide the language.
Moving
So grateful to have this inside view of the challenges of promoting what should be a simple issue of justice within the Church. Bishop Robinson is so full of courage and love and integrity. Thank you!
