Plot Summary
Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart star in the romantic drama Love Happens. When self-help author Dr. Burke Ryan (Eckhart) arrives in Seattle to teach a sold-out seminar, he unexpectedly meets florist Eloise Chandler (Aniston), the one person who might be able to help him help himself. But will two people who may have met the right person at exactly the wrong time be able to give love a chance? If they can, they’ll find that sometimes, when you least expect it…love happens.

Rotten: Other stuff happens too, all of it strained and dull.
Rotten: Love happens. Doesn't it, though? So do other, less pleasant fragrances. This much is clear in the well-acted fraud co-written and directed, woozily, by first-time feature filmmaker Brandon Camp.
Rotten: Not that the grieving process shouldn't be addressed in a movie, but this one feels increasingly cooked up.
Rotten: Is this a movie or a feature-length advertisement for Qwest? We're not just talking one product placement; this brand name is nearly omnipresent.

sentimental redemption story masquerading as a rom com
If you're looking for a romantic comedy with Jennifer Aniston as a co-lead, skip this. It's actually a paint-by-numbers redemption story about a man who is profiting from his failure to grieve over his wife's death. Aniston gamely tackles her ridiculously limited role, but the film is far more concerned with Aaron's Eckhart's relationships with three men. One of them even gets treated to a sweet little dose of retail therapy, which doubles as a promo for Home Depot. Aww. The male bonding might have been interesting and could have added depth to the film, had it not been written with such predictable sentimentality. The movie meanders along towards a "shocking" revelation that was also entirely predictable from the get-go. There’s a cute bit of word play between Aniston and Eckhart’s characters that hints at more complex ideas this movie might have portrayed. Too bad the writers, who obviously like to play with big words, didn’t break out their dictionaries more often to inject more originality and verve into this formulaic story.
"Romantic comedy"? ha!
This movie was labeled a 'romantic comedy' obviously for marketing purposes. Although the movie didn't sit well with critics and it didn't do so well at the box office....I thought it was a good movie, with a nice change in pace. As for "comedy", there wasn't much, although several really funny moments came, but the rest lacked any humor. As for "romance", there's not much either; more like it's the beginning of a strong relationship.
It's not a bad movie; just give it a chance. It's something different. As for people calling it 'weak', I didn't think so at all. It gives us a glimpse at how truly hypocritical we are, and it teaches us that there is always a way to deal with grief and to move on.

I loved this movie, even though it didn't get very good reviews at all. I saw the previews and was very intrigued by the plot, even though it seemed predictable. When I went to see the movie, I was surprised by how different it was from the previews, but it still turned out to be a great movie. I thought that Aaron Eckhart (and Jennifer Aniston, even though she wasn't in it as much as I had hoped) both performed wonderfully and even though it was predictable and slightly slow in places, it is very worth watching and I think that anyone who's up for a sad yet sweet Romantic Comedy would love this film.
