Plot Summary
More interested in partying and flirting with young musicians than work, veteran rock journalist Ellie Klug (Toni Collette) has one last chance to prove her value to her magazine's editor: a no-stone-unturned search to discover what really happened to long lost rock god Matthew Smith, who also happens to be her ex-boyfriend. Teaming up with an eccentric amateur documentary filmmaker (Thomas Haden Church in a delightful performance), Ellie hits the road in search of answers.

Run don't walk
LUCKY THEM is alot of fun. We have all lived Ellie's life in some way, shape or form. Toni Collette and Thomas Haden Church are astonishing! This is a movie that stays with you for a long long time.
My favorite!
I wish I could shout it from the roof tops! You will be doing yourself a favor in seeing it. It stays with you in the best way long after the film is over. Pure magic.
No effort.
Schmaltz. This is schmaltz. Collette’s worst acting - very amateurish. Starts out with some depth but very quickly becomes shallow/ predictable and ordinary/trite. Disappointing. Simply put - this is not a smart film or an artistic film. It is generic, flimsy formulaic fluff disguised as “indie”. Too bad, even though I needed to kill an hour and wasn’t looking for a masterpiece, I would rather not have seen these characters that I usually respect play such low-rent roles in such a flimsy film. I will now have to try to forget having seen her bow down to this before I’ll watch Collette in another film. Or maybe she really can’t act and this is the first director who was unable to disguise her poor acting skills.
