Well Done
I found out after watching this film that it was crowd-funded and produced for something less than $150K. I am thoroughly shocked and amazed by this. The content and delivery is on-par or better than the big Hollywood pictures that start with budgets 50-100x that amount. This picture is that good. The writing is 1st class, filled with wit and very believable verve. The interaction between the characters appears to be genuine-- very spontanenous and fast paced. This film delivers for the ADHD in all of us. I would preferred a slightly enlongated ending and perhaps a better, more permanent resolution of the conflicts between the characters or even within themselves. However, I do not view this as a fault or problem of the production per se, just a slight deviation from the Hollywood norm. Doing so can only be a good thing. Regardless, I did feel satiated after my first viewing. I intend to watch this again soon-- so much physical interaction and subtextual character interaction occurs on film, I am convinced there is so much more to experience. This film contained very little deadwood or otherwise superfluous events-- again, great for the ADHD in us (me.) There are occasional player introductions that aren't necessarily relevent to the plot, but those cameos appear to be easter eggs for those indoctrinated in the other works of the principle cast. This interests me less than the work, standalone, but may appeal to a different intended audience. After a rather disappointing 2013 movie lineup with some of the highest dollar amounts spent on absolute theatrical disasters, this work makes me hopeful that-- with the right talent (in all the right places) a great pictures can still be made that stands indifferent to Hollywood expectations. $150,000 well spent.
