Plot Summary

Academy Award-winner Whoopi Goldberg ("Sister Act," "Ghost"), Emmy-winner Ted Danson (TV's "Becker," "Saving Private Ryan") and Academy Award-nominee Will Smith ("The Pursuit of Happyness," "Ali") star in this offbeat look at modern family values. An independent black woman (Goldberg) conceived a child with the help of a sperm bank 18 years ago. When her now 18-year-old daughter (Nia Long - "Big Momma's House," "Boyz 'N the Hood") discovers the truth about her conception, she tracks down her anonymous father, and the whole family is stunned when she finds a buffoonish - and worse, white -- car dealer (Danson). Directed by Richard Benjamin ("Laughter on the 23rd Floor," "The Goodbye Girl") and produced by Michael Douglas ("Radio Flyer," "Face/Off"), the L.A. Times called the film "exceptionally well-crafted."
