Plot Summary
How far would you go to get your invention made? Winner of the 2009 SXSW Grand Jury Prize - Filmed under the radar in Shanghai, China and loud and proud in Woodville, Texas, MADE IN CHINA is the inventive and entertaining story of a young man's quest for fame and fortune... Self-styled 'Novelty Inventor' Johnson has a great idea. He's sitting on the next big novelty craze, but no one in his home town will believe him. Even his mom. Perhaps it's because he won't tell anyone exactly what it is... Armed with his hard-earned savings and a manufacturing contact found on 'craigslist', Johnson decides he's going to the place where they make everything. Where the Stuff comes from. China. But when his craigslist contact flakes on him, Johnson is alone in Shanghai. He's forced to think fast before his once-in-a-lifetime opportunity evaporates. How exactly does someone get something 'Made In China'? It's the story of a young man's quest to make his dream come true.

Hope in Indies
This is a gem of a film. A must see for the whole family. Just when you think all independent films are about talking heads, comes a true cinematic experience done on a micro budget. The filmmakers take us to a foreign country (China) to share with us a classic American story about never giving up on your dreams. The cast was spot on and the hand held direction was pitch perfect. There were some really great laugh out moments as well. Really makes you look at all those crazy inventions/inventors on late night tv in a whole new light.
I saw this at the Chicago International Film Festival in a packed theater and it was such a romp. So excited IFC Films picked it up and it's now available on Itunes. If you're looking for an original American indie comedy, you have to check this out. I promise you won't regret it!
Really looking forward to seeing what Ms. Krant has up her sleeves next!
An indie comedy that rocks!
A farcical tangle of events that plays out very well in a tiny village in China - Shanghai! The movie is hilariously funny. A must see for the adventurous and decidedly quirky.
