Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Quite apart from the fact that it mistakes sexism and homophobia for sardonic liberal rib-tickling, even at 80 minutes, the film feels like a brash, crass and boneheaded music promo that's been stretched to breaking point. – David Jenkins, Time Out, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Malice In Wonderland does little to remind you of the performances that once had critics and even the late great Harold Pinter crowing about his talent as [Dyer] started out on the West End stage. – Film4, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Despite a certain visual flair, Malice in Wonderland just isn't very good. The screenplay is the main problem - it's just too flat and unimaginative to justify the larger-than- life cartoon characters that populate the movie. – Wendy Ide, Times [UK], Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Dyer has some funny lines, and he makes the most of them, proving that he is actually a good performer, all too often marooned in endless geezer knees-ups. But otherwise it's a bit pointless and heavy-handed. – Peter Bradshaw, Guardian, Jun 24, 2010

Killer Flick

I know this movie has 'B' written all over it. And it is. But it is an aawweessssooommmee 'B'! Its British, so you have the accents, and the characters are unique. Great music & sound effects. Great cinematography. The story isn't plain and its fun trying to figure out which scene or characters match the real Alice in Wonderland. Like; who's the Cheshire cat, who's the Catapiller, who's the Mad Hatter drinking tea. This is definitely an underground movie with a mob boss playing the queen of hearts. Most of the movie is dark and all of the characters portraited are on the other side of the law. You know the usual, truck stop prostitute, gun toting gangster, pharmicist cabbie, trannie asian dancer, and time stopping DJ. So you really don't have much time to get bored and nod off. Reminds me of Guy Ritchie films (Snatch / RocknRolla). Its fast paced with flashbacks, lots of color, odd sounds, mean humor and love in the end. For Simon Fellow's 7th movie I'd say he hit a homerun in the underground.

i recommend this movie :)

this movie is like a remake of the old alice in wonderland, but is more in the 21st century. I really enjoyed this movie because when ever i watch any other remake of alice in wonderland i know whats going to happen next but this remake kept me in curiosity and I loved that. I recommend this movie if you like movies that keep u guessing and mystery than this is the movie for you. I hope you enjoy like i did.

Wonderful

I had preconceived notions that this was going to be just another remake of Alice in Wonderland, but I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting it to follow the original plot, but just set to a different time. I kept wondering what would happen next, also I love the grungy quality of the underworld, showing the seedy"ness" of wonderland.
