Plot Summary

Eccentric Jeffrey Mannus is 29 years old and still lives at home with his mom, Jan. He sees no reason to alter this arrangement, but his perfect world is upended when Jan meets Mert, a motivational speaker. Mert successfully woos Jan and moves in on Jeffrey's territory, something Jeffrey will not tolerate. Jeffrey enlists the aid of an unlikely ally, an aspiring singer-songwriter, Nora, with an anti-establishment penchant and a soft spot for him. As the war between Mert and Jeffrey escalates, something unprecedented happens -- slowly, to both his own surprise and horror, Jeffrey discovers his inner adult.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Haphazardly conceived and clumsily executed, this aggressively quirky yet gratingly unfunny comedy appears set on the fast track to vidstore bins. – Joe Leydon, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: When the writer's this far off, the actors and the audience pay the price. – Roger Moore, Orlando Sentinel, May 13, 2009

Rotten: It's not that the movie is utterly bereft of arresting moments. It's just that each of these prominently features one of the aforementioned supporting cast and not the so-called star. – Geoff Pevere, Toronto Star, Oct 18, 2008

Rotten: Matters quickly regress into an antic romantic comedy, potentially buoyed by a strong cast but soon thwarted by a screenplay as leaden as it is predictable. – Rick Groen, Globe and Mail, Jun 24, 2010

Insanely funny..... but don't buy; just rent.

This is one of those comedies you watch just once and don't wanna keep. It's funny and all that but i don't recommend anyone to buy it...... just rent.

Un-relatable and Unbelievable

The writing for this movie was quite off. The dialogue was highly unoriginal, but attempted to be original. The acting was stale and Jon Heder continues to play the same role in every film. His character was so unbelievable it really just ruined the movie. By the time the character gets his redemption, I was to the point where I didn't care because I so disliked his role. Would not watch agian.

FUNNY!! Great Fun

This movie is a great plot. and with Jon only making it better. Insanely funny worth the rent. Maybe not the buy. But enjoy the movie!!
