Plot Summary
Rodney Bingenheimer, The Mayor of the Sunset Strip, is perhaps the least-known celebrity in Hollywood, though somehow every celebrity seems to know him. From Davy Jones' stunt double to KROQ DJ with a talent scout's vision, "Rodney on the ROQ" has done it all. His routine is anything but, and his social life has included the likes of legends, past and present: John Lennon, The Doors, Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Cher, Courtney Love, Chris Martin, Gwen Stefani... But how has the man who helped start the careers of The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, No Doubt and Colplay (to name a few), gone unnoticed by the public for so long? Whatever the reason, it's all about to change... David Bowie, Courtney Love, Paul McCartney, Coldplay, Gwen Stefani, Keanu Reeves, Mick Jagger, Oasis, John Lennon, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Elvis Costello, Cher, Neil Young, Beck, Blondie, Nancy Sinatra, The Doors, Rob Zombie, Belinda Carlisle, Green Day, Neve Campbell, Brian Wilson, Bow Wow Wow, No Doubt, Pete Townshend, Dramarama, Joan Jett, The Monkees, Van Halen, The Sex Pistols, Tori Amos, Ray Manzarek, David Lee Roth, Alice Cooper, And Many More!!!

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Has a commercial reach that goes beyond local hero worship thanks in part to an all-star lineup of interviewees, including Cher, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Gwen Stefani and Courtney Love, to name just a few confirmed Rod-heads.
Fresh: It's a funny-sad portrait of fame and its junkies, and of an era and its music.
Fresh: Excellent (if sad) documentary profile.
Fresh: Feels like an elegy for an aging rock pixie.
Customer Reviews
One of the all time great Rock-umentaries.
What a strange life Rodney on The Roq has had. This movie is a basically the history of Rock & Roll from the 60's through the new Millennium, seen through the eyes of a quirky, but endearing L.A. Disc Jockey. He was there through all of it...and the Rock Gods come out for this movie. The soundtrack is one of the best I have heard...probably ever. How the heck did an indie film like this get the budget for all that legendary music? And all those guest appearances? Rodney truly has the gift of ??? Something??? I don't really know what it is. I consider myself a bit of a music historian...and I was captivated from beginning to end. It is also a sad, but inspiring story of love and family. Highly recommended.
Rodney on the ROQ!!!
OMG! I remember calling KROQ during his radio show & HE answered! He is the coolest guy!!! He gave me his time and spoke about music as if we were friends. He definitely introduced me to some awesome music.
Love ya Rodney!
Essential to watch
Anyone who loves music, as Rodney does, needs to watch this film. I laughed, I was in awe, and in the end I teared up. He has an ear for what`s good...nay, great, all while being a simple man who probably doesn`t know how influential he really is. John Doe summed it up best when Rodney jokes about being moved around on the KROQ roster. ...I`ll find you.
Yes, we will.
