Plot Summary
In 1845, the earliest days of the Oregon Trail, a wagon train of three families hires mountain man Stephen Meek to guide them over the Cascade Mountains. Claiming to know a shortcut, Meek leads the group on an unmarked path across the high plain desert. Over the coming days, lost in the heat, the settlers face hunger, thirst and a lack of faith in each person's instincts for survival.

Fresh: If you allow its windswept silences to work on you, "Meek's Cutoff" gathers its own snakelike sense of momentum...
Rotten: Boring.
Fresh: Told largely in long shot, it's a painfully, beautifully slow film, which is understandable given the time, place, and situation.
Fresh: A mesmerizing cinematic journey that is often as arduous and spare as the lives of its hard-bitten protagonists.

Exquisite
This film is EXQUISITE. It's extremely slow and artistic so don't watch if you're not into that. If you are, you will find this quite extraordinary. Kelly Reichardt is tremendously talented, and the acting is all great.
Don
This was the slowest most boring movie I have ever watched. If your having trouble sleeping purchase this movie!
Meek
This movie sucked! Who has the money waste making a movie like this! There was no point, no focus, no resolution to the plot. Don't waste your time trying to figure it out. It's pointless...just like the movie. What a disappointment start to finish.
