Plot Summary
Welcome to the dark side of Camelot: King Arthur is gone. The Round Table is in ruins. And a rogue sorcerer has unleashed a reign of monstrous terror upon the land. For the court’s last remaining knights, their only hope lies in the powers of the now-bitter and broken wizard Merlin (James Callis of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA). But can a once-great man of magic defeat a legion of creatures that includes Dragon Soldiers, Death Hawks, and Gorgons, and still reclaim the legendary castle of lore? Laura Harris of TV's Dead Like Me and 24 co-stars in this epic adventure that puts a savage new edge on the saga of Excalibur, Mordred, and the ultimate battle between Merlin and the Book of Beasts.
Customer Reviews
Not a B-movie
Based on the plot, effects, and overall impression, I would not call this a B-movie. Not when there are twenty-four other letters beneath "B." There were almost no special effects. Nothing held this movie together, not plot, not characters, nothing. If you want to trust an online movie rental to stock only those movies worth the money, you will come across bombs like this one. I learned a GOOD lesson: "Read the reviews before wasting money." It was kind of fun to listen to "Merlin." Although the actor was shooting for an Olde English accent, he ended up having more accents than the United Nations. Makes you wonder - do these actors realize, during filming, that what they are making is going to be really, really bad? They must!
A Good Rental
For the fantasy lover, this is a fun rental. King Arthur's daughter searches out Merlin to help save the kingdom from a dark magician. And apparently Merlin recently spent some time in Jamaica, based on his accent. But, luckily for everyone his magic was found in tact.
Battlesoap Galactica re-visited
LAME is the best description I can give this. After the first fifteen minutes the boredom sets in. Not really bad, just predictable, visually ho-hum, and bad acting by some. Merlin is constantly explaining things that should be made evident through visuals and setup, without a lot of useless dialog. The only reason I bought this movie was curiosity, and curiosity satisfied, deleted after watching. Reminds me of a made for TV movie rather than a feature film.
