Plot Summary
MESSENGER OF THE TRUTH, a 90 minute documentary narrated by Martin Sheen, is the remarkable true story of Blessed Father Jerzy Popiełuszko, a 37-year-old Polish priest who was murdered by the secret police of the communist party in then Soviet-dominated Poland. Thirty years ago an ordinary priest in communist Poland was brutally murdered (Oct. 19, 1984) for speaking the truth in a country full of lies. Blessed Father Jerzy Popieluszko led a non- violent movement of human rights, human dignity and freedom that unified Poland and led to the end of Communism not only in Poland but all of Eastern Europe. An ordinary priest who had an extraordinary impact and his only weapon was the truth.
