Plot Summary

"Slacker Uprising" traces Michael Moore’s 62-city tour of the swing states during the 2004 Presidential election and records the thrilling - and frightening - response he received across the country. Moore's goal was to convince millions of non-voting "slackers” - mostly between the ages of 18-29 - to give voting a try. Starting out in Elk Rapids, Michigan, in front of an audience of 400, the tour caught on like wildfire with up to 16,000 slackers each night coming to see Moore and his traveling band of speakers, comedians, and musicians. To encourage the slackers to show up, they were offered a clean change of underwear, free Ramen noodles, and a promise that no event would start before noon and no politician would be allowed to speak. These enticements filled basketball arenas and concert halls every night on the "Slacker Uprising Tour." Along with Moore's appearance, "Slacker Uprising" features live performances or appearances by Eddie Vedder (of Pearl Jam), Roseanne Barr, Joan Baez, Tom Morello (of Rage Against the Machine), R.E.M., Steve Earle, and Viggo Mortensen.

Customer Reviews

you must watch

The last eight years cannot happen again. We as a people, as a country, as humans cannot continue to be a part and play a part in what we have helped to vote into being, or let get taken from us regardless of who won. Like all Michael Moore movies this tells a truth that some might try and argue, but there is nothing here that has not been learned time and time again the past eight years. It's just a reminder in movie form. Watch this and try and come up with the typical "Michael Moore lies" that happen after all his movies. There is nothing that can be touched on in that way. This is just truth and the lives people lived during the first four years. Michael Moore and other tried to stop it once. We did not listen. I personally did not vote and have not voted since i was 19. That will not happen again. Mr. Moore spent 2 million to make this and has given up an estimated 40 million in revenue so we could see it for free. That's a pretty big campaign contribution that goes directly to no one's pocket. Just the hearts and minds of the American people. Mr. Moore, Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will not fail to do my part in this election. You have this movie have pushed me in the right direction and i didn't even need underwear or a cheap bag of noodles. :)

Patriot Act

Eddie calls him the"Patriot that acts" How true. This is his free wake up call to remind you that the impossible when shown the facts is always possible in America. There could be no more important vote in our lifetime for the future of America , not just for us this time, but for America. This is a grat film from a man who truly loves the United States. Watch it then VOTE

1 Man's war ...

This movie is available for free so forget the reviews and watch it. Form your opinion and comment, it's your right, brought to you by our founding fathers. I can't believe I watched the same movie as the reviewer who stated that MM had no influence. Maybe not enough to change the election, but enough to make us think. To the "old" reviewer who states "the problem with America today is that our youth...." I think you have it backwards. Maybe the country should have voted the way they did. If your prize is greed, corporate corruption, bail out to companies with no limits on executive perks, tax breaks to companies relocating to foreign soil, and profits to companies for govt contracted services...... you need serious introspection. And when your done with this movie, watch sicko... we can do better...
