Plot Summary
Nicky is a small-time Jewish gangster in trouble with the mob. He calls on his lifelong friend Mikey for help. During the night the two spend together, the power of their friendship is undermined by their mutual nastiness and pressing financial concerns.

Amazing Overlooked '70s Gem
One of my favorite films of the sainted 1970's. The actors are amazing (among them acting guru Sanford Meisner and Walter Matthau's wife, Carol Grace). The dynamics of the friendship between the titular characters are so complicated yet real: by the end, you don't know if you love them or hate them. The last five minutes of the movie will take your breath away.
